If you need to drive a vehicle beyond the Mexico Free Zone, you must obtain a Temporary Vehicle Import Permit (TIP)which is valid for a maximum of 180 days.

How to cancel the temporary vehicle import permit?
Once your visit to Mexico is over or if the TIP is about to expire and you plan to stay longer, you should know how to cancel a banjercito permit.
Below we explain the step by step to cancel the Banjercito permit:
1- You must appear at any of the CIITEV modules operated by Banjercito with the following:
- The vehicle
- Original Temporary Import Permit (TIP)
- original hologram
2- It is not necessary that the place of departure is the same as the place of entry to Mexico. But you should first check if there is a Banjercito office at that border crossing.
3- Once in the office, Banjercito staff will register the partial return of the car or the final return.
Partial return
It means that you can make multiple entries and exits during the validity of the temporary vehicle import permit. And, in that case, Banjercito staff will then record a partial return.
Definitive return
It is done when Banjercito staff registers the final return and removes the original hologram from the windshield. A final return original is delivered.

Why should I cancel the temporary vehicle import permit?

You must cancel the Banjercito permit or surrender your temporary vehicle import permit when you return to the United States. Upon cancellation or before the permit expiration date, you will receive the security deposit in the same way you paid it.
